Configuring: Shift Values

Select one field at a time for this operation, although you can add more than one offset for the selected field.  The resulting modified dataset will contain all the existing data fields plus the new offset field/s.

Worked example: Shift Values

Steps to configure

  1. Create offset: Select the field and offset required.

  2. Execute: The dataset will be modified, containing both the existing and created offset fields.

Step 1: Create offset

Select the field, new field name and enter the offset value. The offset is the number of rows by which you want the dataset to be moved, either to rows ahead, or to previous rows.

Field name:

  • A text box with a drop down menu lists all the fields in the dataset.

  • Select only one field per operation.

  • Default: blank text box.

  • Minimum configuration: one field must be selected.

Output:

  • This is the field name for the offset field that will be displayed on the modified dataset.

  • Default: Offset [fieldname]. Once you have defined a new output field name, it  does not automatically update if the selected field is changed.

  • The name that will be displayed in the dataset will be [Output] _ [Offset], for example OffsetField1_15, if Field 1 was offset by 15 rows.

  • When a negative offset is created, the offset value will have a prefix of M, for example OffsetField1_M15, if Field 1 was offset by -15 rows.

Offset(s):

  • Enter the offsets required to move the position of the data in the offset fields.

  • You can define the following offsets:

    • single offsets of a positive or negative number of rows.

    • offsets spanning a range (1 - 100) creating a number of offset fields with incremental offsets

    • Multiple offsets separated with a comma (  -1 ,1 ,5 , 7-9 )

  • All the offsets added will be listed in the window below, showing the offset field name as it will appear in the resulting dataset, as well as the defined offset.

Step 2: Execute

The dataset will be modified to contain the offset fields. These fields will be listed after the existing fields. The original fields and values of the dataset are not affected in any way.
